Dear O and C,

Congratulations on finishing another year of school!  And C, congratulations on graduating from the 5th grade and becoming a middle school student!  I wish I could have been a part of your celebration.  I’m sure there were many people in your life who were able to celebrate you, and I’m quite happy about that.  The only information I have received about either of you this past year, was that you, O, were playing both flag football and baseball.  Aside from that, I have not received any updates, photos, information about either of you. That has been very difficult for me.  I wish I had some inkling of insight as to how you were both doing.  All I can do is hope and pray for the best, which I do everyday.

Since you can’t share anything with me, I will take this opportunity to share some information with you.  Your half brother, CS, is now 15 months old.  He is walking, talking, and thoroughly enjoying life.  He knows who each of you are, as his mother and I have taken much time to explain the both of you to him, and share pictures too.  In fact, one of his favorite things to do is give kisses to each of your pictures.  He knows you both by name, and will go into your room, grab each of your pictures, and kiss them when prompted.  It’s honestly one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen in my entire life.  We also named two of your stuffed animals after you.  C, the sloth belongs to you, and O, the bear.  When I ask CS to go find his brothers, he will grab both the sloth and the bear, and snuggle up to them tight. Again, it’s beyond sweet, and oftentimes brings tears to my eyes. CS often does things that remind me of you guys.  I see a lot of you both in him, and that brings me great joy.

Here are some other milestones.  Your cousin J is off to high school!  I can’t believe it.  You would hardly recognize him.  He’s nearly 6 feet tall!  Your cousin M, similar to you C, just finished elementary school, and is off to middle school.  They both miss you dearly, and we often reminisce about good times we shared such as; camping, boating, biking, baseball games, birthday celebrations, and so on.  I am 955 days sober.  Aside from the two of you, CS and B, my sobriety is the best thing that has ever happened to me.  I wish you were able to get to know the sober version of your dad.  I hope that someday you will.

I hope you guys have some fun plans for the summer.  Take good care of yourselves, and each other.  I love you both so much.

Love,

Dad
